Dr. Howard Pierce Bouchelle III

Founder of Intracoastal West Veterinary Hospital

DR. BOUCHELLE FOUNDED INTRACOASTAL WEST VETERINARY HOSPITAL IN 2015 AND THE HOSPITAL OPENED ITS DOORS IN JULY 2016.

Dr. Howard Pierce Bouchelle III, 43, entered into rest on April 5, 2020.

He was born on March 31, 1977 in Jacksonville, Florida and entered into rest on April 5, 2020. Dr. Howard Bouchelle graduated from Bishop Kenny High School in 1995. He continued his education at the University of Florida with Dual Majors in Chemical Engineering and Microbiology & Cell Science with a Minor in Chemistry. He started his veterinary training at Oklahoma State University and then transferred to finish his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Florida in 2003. He performed an externship at the Kissimmee Animal Diagnostic Laboratory reviewing microbiology, anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and electron microscopy. His other externship brought him to the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine where he focused on Clinical Pathology and wrote about Neonatal Isoerythrolysis in Foals. After graduating from the University of Florida in May 2003, Dr. Bouchelle practiced throughout Florida – Jacksonville, Beach, Brandon, Tampa Clearwater, and Yulee. In 2010, Dr. Bouchelle became licensed in California and practiced throughout the San Francisco Bay area. After Returning to Florida in 2013, Dr. Bouchelle made Jacksonville his final stop. Dr. Bouchelle’s special interests included: Dermatology, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, and Cardiology. Howard was a patient, gentle, and nurturing person who knew from a young age he wanted to dedicate his life to helping animals.

Howard was an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and Jacksonville Veterinary Medical Society. He was a Life Member of the University of Florida Alumni Association with a passion for Florida Gator Football.

In his spare time, Dr. Bouchelle had an interest in traveling, road trips, and national parks. He enjoyed gardening and home improvements. During the fall, he had an enthusiastic interest in Southeastern Conference Football and his alma mater the University of Florida Mighty Gators. Dr. Bouchelle tried to attend as many home games at Ben Hill Griffin Jr. Stadium as he could. Throughout his life, Dr. Bouchelle had many pets that he has cared for since the age of eight: Freshwater fish, Hamsters, Rabbits, Gerbils, Iguanas, Dogs, and Cats. Dr. Bouchelle always had a passion for animals and treated all of his patients as if they were his own, a value shared with Dr. M and Dr. Green.

He also lovingly devoted his life to his family and friends. His kindness, selflessness, and love, was unconditional. He will be greatly missed.
